Parent Training

Parent Training

As a parent, it’s important for you to keep growing, too!  Every school year, Head Start will offer programs to help you improve your family’s health.  Trainings are provided quarterly and in conjunction with Parent Committee meetings.  Look for information at your Head Start Center about upcoming programs.

Topics Include:

GED Preparation
Domestic Abuse Awareness
Substance Abuse Awareness
Child Abuse Awareness
Literacy
Nutrition
Child Development
Healthy marriages

Other resources for adult learning:
Missouri Adult Education and Literacy
Parkway School District

Male Involvement Initiative

We reach out to fathers to inspire them to become more involved in the early stages of their child’s development and life.  The program is open to the biological parent, as well as extended family members such as grandfathers, uncles, cousins, and other positive male figures.

If you know of other organizations that promote active fatherhood, Head Start can provide training and technical assistance.  Call 314.427.4940 and ask for the Male Involvement Specialist.

Other resources on fatherhood:
National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse (NRFC)
National Fatherhood Initiative

Financial Literacy

Financial education is the key to being able to meet your needs and lead a more enriching lifestyle.  People who learn to build assets are more economically secure and are in a better position to support and nurture their children.  Head Start is committed to helping you learn the financial skills to better support your family and secure your future.  Ask your Head Start Center for available courses.
