In 2005, YWCA Metro St. Louis was one of only 17 local
charities out of 500 applicants named to the Better business
Bureau's new "Honor Roll." The designation assures donors
that these charities hold themselves to a higher standard and
provides a way for potential donors to identify those charities
that have met strict financial, reporting and governance standards.
Charities were evaluated using 20 national accountability
standards such as adequate oversight by a board of directors,
the charity's ability to raise and spend their money, and their
willingness to make public annual reports and financial statements.
