As a parent of a child enrolled in Head Start or Early Head Start, you are automatically a member of the Parent Committee at your Head Start location. The Parent Committee will provide you with many opportunities to be involved in your child’s education, to assist in the operation of your Head Start Center, and to grow through leadership and teamwork.
Through the Parent Committee, parents can participate in all aspects of Head Start, such as:
Make decisions about the design and operaton of Head Start locally
Work on committees and provide leadership
Assist teachers in the classroom
Read to the children
Coordinate parent social activities
Assist with field trips
Work on the center newsletter
Develop at home activities
Help plan menus
